Exploring fresh expressions of church

On a cold and windy December morning, thirty or so leaders entered the crypt of Christ Church Cathedral to engage in an afternoon of teaching and growing. Tony Jones, an acclaimed writer from Minnesota, USA, delivered an insightful talk on fresh expressions of church in today’s modern society. Tony facilitated an environment to study the philosophers through the ages and their conclusions and a brief history of the church, which helped throughout the day when it can time to discuss the emergent church and the church’s role in society today. Tony Jones has written many books including “Postmodern Youth Ministry” and “The Sacred Way” and has been published many times in current affairs journals and magazines throughout the USA during his time in ministry. It was a very interesting day and all those present had the chance to chew over what it means to be emergent in Ireland.
