Icebreakers : Big Hair Party
You’ll need a well-ventilated space for this hair-raising event and one hair dryer for every five people.
Have everyone bring at least one can of hair spray (gels and mousse are messy and don’t work). Take a “before” photo of the group. Then form mixed-gender groups of five, and give each group a hair dryer.
Have kids “craft a coif” for everyone in their groups, using the hair dryers and the hair spray. (Kids can turn their heads upside down and get sprayed. Girls with long hair can tease it.)
After kids have finished creating their masterpieces, bring the group back together, and vote on the biggest hair in these categories: short, long, guys, and girls.
Take “after” photos and use them to promote the youth group. The photos also make great out reach postcards: “It’s a big hairy deal that you missed Sunday—we missed you.”
